stub Trees are part of the terrain that naturally generate on the most part of the world's surface. There are currently 7 types of trees in the game: Oak, Swamp, Birch, Pine, Cherry, Eucalyptus, Shrub and Retro. Trees are natural sources of logs, leaves, and saplings and change their appearance throughout the seasons. Different types of trees can be chopped down to craft different colored wooden planks. Every type of tree can be grown using their corresponding sapling type, except swamp, which will grow based on whether an oak sapling has been placed in a swamp biome. During fall, trees can generate leaf piles to symbolize their leaves falling. winter, trees will not grow, except for pine trees. == Tree Variants == === Oak Tree === Oak trees are a common tree type seen throughout the world. They generate with oak logs, which can be crafted into standard wooden planks. Oak trees tend to generate in biomes with moderate temperatures, such as forests and plains. There is also a chance of oak saplings growing into huge oak trees. Oak trees cannot grow in swamp biomes, as oak saplings grow into swamp trees. Oak leaves are affected by the seasons, turning red during fall. === Birch Tree === Birch trees are a rarer species of tree which typically generate in the same biomes as oak trees, but less commonly. They also generate very commonly in birch forest biomes, where they tend to grow taller than in other biomes. Birch logs can be crafted into white planks. === Cherry Tree === Cherry trees can be found in seasonal forest biomes. Throughout most of the year, their leaves remain green, however they turn pink during spring. Cherries can generate on cherry leaves during springtime. Cherry logs can be crafted into pink planks. Cherry saplings have a chance of growing into huge cherry trees. === Pine Tree === Pine trees generate in colder biomes. They are the only tree type which produces saplings year-round, and their leaves do not turn red during fall. Pine saplings can also grow in the winter, unlike other tree types. Pine logs can be crafted into brown planks. === Swamp Tree === Swamp trees generate only in swamp biomes. They are a variant of oak trees, and will grow from oak saplings in swamp biomes. Swamp logs can be crafted into green planks. Oak saplings planted in the swamp biome have a chance of growing into a huge swamp tree. === Eucalyptus Tree === Eucalyptus trees generate in grassy outback biomes. Eucalyptus logs can be crafted into orange planks. === Shrub === Shrubs generate in shrubland biomes. They are the shortest tree type, only generating one oak log block surrounded with leaves. === Retro Tree === Retro trees only generate in Classic and Retro world types. They are unobtainable in all other world types. Retro trees have their own sapling and leaf variant, which stays a bright green color no matter what season it is. Otherwise, they are identical to oak trees, generating with oak logs.
