Skeletons are a hostile mob which can spawn in Minecraft.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Skeletons will shoot arrows at players while strafing. Arrows shot by a skeleton cannot be picked up by players, unlike player shot arrows.

Drops[edit | edit source]

Skeletons can drop up to 3 bones and arrows upon dying.

Spawning[edit | edit source]

Skeletons naturally spawn in darkness and at night.

Monster spawners are capable of generating as skeleton spawners, which will periodically spawn skeletons.

Skeletons can spawn as a result of the player having a nightmare.

Skeletons can rarely spawn riding a spider, which is referred to as a spider jockey.
