Bedrock is a block that is unable to be destroyed with tools. It cannot be obtained as an item in survival or moved by a piston.

Obtaining[edit | edit source]

Bedrock is unobtainable in survival, but it can be destroyed via a glitch involving pistons.[1] Bedrock can be obtained through commands and the creative menu.

Natural generation[edit | edit source]

Bedrock generates between y=5 to y=0 in the Overworld. In the Nether, bedrock generates between y=255 and y=251 at the ceiling and y=132 and y=128 at the floor.

Usage[edit | edit source]

Bedrock is used to prevent the player from falling into the void when they dig too deep in the Overworld, and to keep the player from coming above the Nether ceiling in the Nether.
