Blocks

This article is about all changes made to block textures. For the changes to item textures, go here History_of_textures/Items

This page attempts to document the full history of the textures of blocks, their additions, changes, and removals. Additions and changes made to the models of blocks and any new blocks that reuse prior textures will not be documented here. Texture files that are completely identical to other texture files will also be largely ignored for the time being.

Beta 1.7.3 (Vanilla)
Beta 1.7.4_01		Added the textures for Block of Steel, Blast Furnace, Dirt Path, Lapis Lazuli Bricks, Gold Bricks, Polished Stone Bricks, Sandstone Bricks, Wet Sponge, Nether Coal Ore, Basalt, Cobbled Basalt, Basalt Bricks, Limestone, Cobbled Limestone, Limestone Bricks, Granite, Cobbled Granite, Granite Bricks, Mesh Blocks, Spike Traps, and an unused mossy stone brick texture. Changed the texture of Gravel and updated ore textures to use overlays.
Beta 1.7.4_02		Updated and implemented the texture of the unused Mossy Polished Stone Brick.
Beta 1.7.5	1.7.5 Prerelease 1	Added a side texture to Dirt Path, and Motion Sensor textures. Added unused textures for Igneous Netherrack, Soulslate, Weeping Netherrack, Block of Mithril and Marble. Updated the textures of mossy cobblestone, Basalt, Limestone, and Granite.
	1.7.5 Prerelease 2	Changed the textures of Basalt and the coal and iron ore overlays.
Beta 1.7.6	1.7.6 Snapshot 21w34a	Added textures for all ore variants, Marble Bricks and Marble Pillars, metal blocks sides and bottoms, Pumpkin bottom, cherry wood products, Dirt, Dirt and an unused scorched dirt path, Trommels, Lamps, Tinted Glass, Retro Grass, Retro Leaves and overlay textures for glowing redstone ore, Nether Coal Ore, Igneous Netherrack, Motion Sensors, and powered rails. Changed the texture of Marble and Moss which now has new variants. Removed ore overlay and dyed wool textures.

This page only documents items which have specific item textures (such as beds and doors) - items which use 3D models of the block they represent, as well as items which are the 2D texture of the block in question, are not documented here but rather at history of textures/Blocks.
