Basalt is a volcanic rock found underground.

Obtaining

Stone requires a pickaxe to be mined, in which case it drops Cobbled Basalt. When mined without a pickaxe, it drops nothing. If a stone is mined with a golden pickaxe, it drops itself.

Natural Generation

Basalt makes up a large part of the solid blocks generated in the Overworld below y=16.

Breaking

Marble drops itself when mined by any pickaxe. If mined without a pickaxe it drops nothing.

Smelting

Basalt can be smelted from Cobbled Basalt in a Furnace.

Usage

Smelting Ingredient

Basalt smelted in a Blast Furnace creates Olivine.

Crafting Ingredient

Two Basalt can be used to craft 2 Polished Basalt, Redstone Repeaters, Stone Pressure Plates and Stone Buttons.

Note Blocks

Basalt can be placed under note blocks to produce "bass drum" sound.
