Biomes are the different environments that can be found in the worlds of Minecraft. Better than Adventure! includes some biomes from the base game, but most biomes and their mechanics have been revamped or added.

Default Biomes

Forest

Probably the most abundant biome in Main Page.

Generates with oak trees and about a 20% chance of birck trees.

Fully affected by the seasons.

Seasonal Forest

Has about a 80% chance of generating cherry trees, instead of oak trees.

Often generates mixed in with regular forests. Fully affected by the seasons.

Only cherry trees grown during generation will actually fruit any cherries during spring.

Rainforest

Birch Forest

Has a 100% chance of spawning birch trees that are significantly taller than normal.

Fully affected by the seasons.

Boreal Forest

Plains

Not much can be said about it. It's a plain biome.

Pumpkins can occasionally spawn here.

Trees are rare, often generates tall grassy hills with a lot of relatively flat surfaces.

Fully affected by the seasons.

Desert

It's a normal desert from Beta 1.7.3, generates with cactus and dead bush.

It will not rain or snow in the desert.

Grasslands

Barren landscapes that generate without trees, flowers or tall grass.
Namespaced ID: minecraft:overworld.grasslands

Shrubland

Often generates flat grassy hills with a few shrubs scattered in.
Namespaced ID: minecraft:overworld.shrubland

Swampland

Wet biome that often generates near big bodies of water.

Trees that are generated or grown inside the biome turn into moss trees.

Swamplands also generate with mud and pumpkins, and are fully affected by the seasons, in addition the only biome that spawns algae.

Outback

A red wasteland with scorched dirt, spinifex and occational oak trees.

Often generates near deserts and grassy outbacks.

It will not rain or snow in the outback.

Grassy Outback

A grassy outback variant that generates with eucalyptus trees.

Often generates near deserts and outbacks.

It will not rain or snow in the grassy outback.

Meadow

Special World Types

Classic

Terrain generation similar to Classic, but infinite.

This world type has "No Season" and only one biome.

Retro

Terrain generation as close as possible to Minecraft Alpha 1.1.2_01.

This world type has "No Season" and only one biome, the world generation was ported from Minecraft Alpha, complete with neon green Retro Grass and Retro Leaves.

Hell

This world ended long ago - survive it.

An inhospitable wasteland of nothing but dirt, darkness, and lava oceans.
