Natural generation[edit | edit source]

Nether coal ore deposits can generate anywhere in the Nether, replacing netherrack.

Mining[edit | edit source]

Nether Coal can be obtained by mining Nether coal ore with any pickaxe. If mined without a pickaxe, it drops nothing. If mined with a golden pickaxe, it drops itself.
