Post-generation[edit | edit source]
Ice replaces any water sources without a block above it during the Winter when snowing. Ice will melt and turn into water sources if light level is at least 10 or when it turns to Spring if there is not a block above it.
Mining[edit | edit source]
Ice can be obtained by mining with a golden pickaxe. Mining with any pickaxe or by hand will drop nothing. When broken when above another block without a golden pickaxe, it will turn into water.
