Description | A dark green gem that seems to block light. |

Olivine is a olive-green silicate mineral that is found by processing other blocks. The high crystallization point of olivine allows it to be used as cheap fuel in blast furnaces, and the stone's vitreous luster enables it to block light from passing through it.
Obtaining
Trommeling
Olivine can be obtained by trommeling gravel, dirt, sand, grass, retro grass, path block, scorched dirt or rich scorched dirt.
Blasting
Cobbled basalt can be smelted in a blast furnace to obtain olivine.
Crafting
Usage
Smelting
Olivine can be used as fuel in a blast furnace to smelt 2 items. It does not work in normal furnaces.
Crafting
Olivine can be used to craft olivine blocks and tinted glass.
History
Trivia
- Since olivine smelts two items per piece, it can be used to very slowly create infinite blast furnace fuel, provided the player has constructed a basalt generator.
- In the real world, olivine is one of the minerals that comprises darker, more iron-and-magnesium-rich "mafic" stones, hence why it yields from smelting down basalt (a mafic stone) in a blast furnace.
- While olivine does catch fire at incredibly high temperatures in the real world, this attribute does not lend it to being used as fuel much. Its fuel properties in BTA! are somewhat of an artistic liberty taken in favour of providing more interesting mechanics and a tradeoff with fuels on the blast furnace tier.
