Weather is a local natural phenomena in the world of Minecraft, that is based on it's different biomes. Main Page includes some weather from the base game, but most weather and their mechanics have been revamped or added.

In Main Page default worlds the weather is heavily dependent on the current season.

Wind[edit | edit source]

BTA! features a dynamic wind system that affects cloud direction, falling leaves, and flags.

Default Weather[edit | edit source]

Below is a list of all the different weather events you can encounter in a default BTA!, across all seasons.

Clear[edit | edit source]

The default state of your world, sun is shining.

Rain[edit | edit source]

Rain is one of the most common weather types, water droplets fall from the sky, irrigating crops.

During a rainstorm, each tick has a 1⁄300 chance to catch a fish, reducing the average time between catches from 346 ticks to 207 ticks, a 40% decrease.

Thunderstorm[edit | edit source]

A rare variant of normal rain, that has a chance of lightning strikes.

Most common during summers.

Fog[edit | edit source]

Snow[edit | edit source]

Aurora Borealis[edit | edit source]

Shimmering lights that can occasionally be seen in the night sky in cold biomes.

Generated via Perlin noise.

Physically generates at approximately y=400 on Extended Default, can be flown into in Creative.

Special Weather[edit | edit source]

Blood Rain[edit | edit source]

Rains upwards.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Rain and snow still falls above the clouds. Notch's explanation is that the gray above the clouds during a storm is “another layer of clouds” and the origin of the rain.[1]
  • Rain and snow actually fall one block into the void (Layer -1). This can be seen in Creative Mode by floating in the Void. Note that no particles are emitted from the rain, due to the absence of a block below it for it to fall on.
  • Lightning does not have an image file associated with it. Thus, it is coded directly into the game engine, allowing for dynamic, realistic lightning.
