Due to the function of the spike trap, spike traps are useful for automating mob farms, damaging mobs very fast without human input. They can also be used for traps, killing mobs and unsuspecting players who fall for traps involving spike pits.

The spike trap is a block that slows down and deals damage to mobs that step on it. They can also be deactivated when powered by a redstone signal.
