Permafrost is a hard stone block that makes up most of the terrain in glacier biomes in the Overworld. Permafrost will generate beneath layers of snow. It will generate from anywhere between 14 and 22 blocks below the snow layer.

Permafrost can also generate as part of labyrinths inside of glaciers.

Smelting

Permafrost can be made by smelting cobbled permafrost.
