Basalt is a volcanic rock found underground.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Basalt makes up a large part of the solid blocks generated in the Overworld below y=16.
Breaking
Basalt requires a pickaxe to be mined, in which case it drops cobbled basalt. When mined without a pickaxe, it drops nothing. If basalt is mined with a golden pickaxe, it drops itself.
Smelting
Basalt can be smelted from cobbled basalt in a furnace.
